I like the intro – by stating you must have a blue print for your web property – like a house. I have to agree and I use this as an understanding to others, that building a website is just like building a house.

– You have the blueprint (wire frame and mock up)
– You have the brick and outer walls (Markup)
– You have your interior decorating (CSS)
– You need electricity and power to watch television etc (javascript / jQuery)
– You must sweep and clean up the finished property (clean up code)
– You must have your new home inspected (Validate)

Well laid out and very informative! Planning & SEO are vital. If you don’t plan your website, it won’t accomplish your goals. If you don’t optimize for SEO and pay for search engine marketing services, you will miss out on targeted potential customers.

I am currently working on a new and more accurately designed portfolio for my design freelancing career.

I think that the most important step that leads to the others is setting your business objective. That clearly states what are your goals and from there you have a clearer idea of what type of organization will you use for your website. As web gets more complex and full of similar content, by knowing what your goals are, you can define a more specific approch to your field and it’s web relation.

just my thought.
