Its much different today than a few years ago. I’m still trying to adjust and starting to really like what I see this days. Thanks for the article.

I take back the comment about Microsoft – he said that it was made popular by them not invented by them – my apologies.

I agree and notice other misused phrases by web developers – the worst being ‘responsive design’. Somehow they got responsive to mean that it works on small screens. Hmmm. Responsive describes how it behaves to your actions. Like a responsive brakes or gas pedal on a car.

Finally, Microsoft invented this? I stopped reading at that point.

And last if a client ask you for any type of design toy should be able to make it other wise you’re out !.

There’s still a lot to take from other designs and a creative designer may even mix styles. No doubt flat design will be a thing of the past soon too, then will you hold the banner of some new trend and talk about flat designs as though they’re some undesirable waste of time?

Like art, web designs go through phases, now is perhaps a minimalist phase but who knows what next… a romantic phase? where all websites go crazy with over adornment? Or a modernist? The main thing is web designers need to stay ahead of the curve and be able to cater to the latest trends if they’re going to keep getting clients.

Interesting article! Thanks…
